We have decided against mainstream parenting and it’s many forms of coercion. We want our children to learn to follow their own intuition, with us guiding them on their path, not manipulating their path. Below are some resources we have found which are in tune with a similar positive parenting philosophy.

Awesome page! So many great resources here. Kohn and Aldort are some of my faves.
What a great list! Thanks for sharing all these links.
[...] Peaceful Parenting [...]
I am REALLY impressed at the ground you’ve so fruitfully covered in your conscious exploration of parenting approaches!! You’ve got many of my esteemed colleagues as well as friends (was just hanging with John Breeding–”To Tame or to Trust”–at last month’s “Celebrating the Shift to Conscious Choice” Family Wellness Summit in DC).
Just wanted to let you know that my book “Raising Generation PAX: A 7-Step Parenting Matrix for Joy at Home & Peace in the World” will be coming out in Oct. of 2011 from Sentient Publications–I hope you’ll pick it up and maybe even spread the word! It’s a new-paradigm vision of parenting for a new generation of parents, to raise citizens for a world in urgent need of socially adept, innovative peacemakers. The book poses both a challenge and an enticement to millenial parents: If you really want to change the world, raise a generation “hardwired for peace”–and here’s how. It synthesizes much of the same material you have gathered–for those who might be a little less motivated to do all that reading–along with consciousness, epigenetics and bodymind research… as well as my own original research, much of it involving prenatal development, conscious conception and such other wild stuff.
I’m particularly happy to see that Leonard Cohen and Gordon Neufeld are tops on your list–such very very important, lesser-recognized frameworks. Oh, how I wish I’d had “Playful Parenting” when I was mothering two young children!
I am also an adopted person and longtime adoption educator; you might find some of the adoption articles on my site of interest as you embark on that path. I’d love to hear from you if you’re so moved.
Blessings on your parenting journey…
